Biography
George Herman Ruth, Jr. was born February 6th, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland and died August 16, 1948 at Memorial Hospital in New York City at the age of 53. He had a horrible childhood with horrible parents. They worked all the time and never gave him any attention. He got his high school education at St. Mary's Industrial School for boys, although he did not go to college. He looked up to a member of St. Mary's named Brother Mathias. He saw him as a father figure and gained much guidance and encouragement from him that gave George much needed support.
George spent his professional baseball career playing for the New York Yankees, his first season was in 1920. He held the record for most home runs in a single professional players career for 39 years with 714. He also had a .690 batting average which is he highest in he history of major league baseball.
